For several months, contract negotiations have been held between the College Employer Council and OPSEU, the union representing full-time and partial load faculty at Ontario’s publicly-funded colleges. We regret to inform you that with a strike deadline looming, the sides have not been able to reach a settlement. OPSEU has set a strike date of this Monday, October 16. This means faculty at George Brown College will be on strike as of Monday unless an agreement can be reached by that date.
Please note that for the duration of a strike, all full-time classes will be cancelled, but college services and facilities will be available, including the International Centre for admissions and student services.
While we are disappointed with this outcome and hope a settlement can be reached quickly, George Brown respects our faculty’s right to strike as part of their union membership. Our primary commitment to student success has not wavered, and we will work closely with our faculty upon their return to class to ensure we deliver courses and programs to meet student goals.
